Pls share your gym regimen for your hair w me!

I go to the gym 2-4 times per week (since Dec 2008) & I sweat in my hair. I mean almost soaking wet when I'm done.

At one point I was co-washing my hair mid-week but that really makes no sense for me (I have no time with home life, and school). So as an alternative I've just been moisturizing and sealing (wave nouv finishing lotion & proclaim 7 oil) after the gym, then I pin my hair up, and keep it moving.
Right after gym...m&s then pin up. Hair soaking wet
Today...
At one point, I was wondering if I should add a nickel-sized amount of leave-in conditioner then seal versus my wave nouv. after the gym. But last night I wondered if any of you ladies had your own gym routine for your hair you'd like to share.

I know I could learn a thing or two from you...any advice is helpful.

TIA :)

  1. wow that is some soaking wet hair girlie!!! The thing is I was going to the gym for 2yrs I just stop going in january. I reached my weight goal so I'm pretty much done w/ the gym. But when I did go I ddn't sweat very much. But if the hair did touch the back of my neck I would let it dry 1st, mousturize it and go. I'm thinking your regimen is good. But just let it air dry before putting it back in a pony. Just my opinion mama...

  2. I sweat in my hair and it has always been annoying to me..esp when I danced in college. I keep it up when I'm exercising so usually I have to take it down to m&s then put it back up...I'm liking the leave in idea more and more now that I think abt it. Thanks for the comment China :)

  3. I am still trying to perfect mine! I just began going back to the gym and I go 4-5 times per week. I moisturize before going and I've been co-washing 2-3 times per week. 1-2 times per week I apply MnT conditioner after my workout, cover with a plastic cap and sit in the sauna to pre-poo/deep condition. I've been trying to do braid-outs but I think its too much manipulation for my 9 weeks post hair, so after I relax this weekend I will bun...bun...bun...

  4. I'm still trying to find a good gym hair routine myself. I'm currently transitioning which makes it all the more difficult in my opinion. Half my hair goes limp while the other half tries to poof up, lol. Currently I co-wash mid-week or as soon as my scalp feels gross, whichever comes first. BEfore I go to the gym I try to put castor oil on my scalp, idk why I do it, I guess I feel like all the heat coming from my scalp helps the castor oil work its magic, lol. I work out with my hair in a ponytail or bun. When I get back from the gym I smooth my hairline and tie down my edges. I only manipulate my hair between washes so I can moisturize and seal.

I miss having my hair styled in something other than a bun or a ponytail. I plan on trying to do a rod set on my hair and see if that will stand up to a week (or even a day) at the gym.

  5. I'm like you and my head is pretty much soaking after I work out. For me I don't like the idea of the sweat sitting on my hair until I wash again. I read somewhere that the salt in your sweat is not so good for your hair. So I usually just end up co-washing 2-3 times a week (depending on how often I work out) to compensate for that.

  6. Thanks ladies! I really don't want to start washing mid week again :( well, not until school is done. I used to do it but I just don't have the time anymore. I did do some research and found information about dry (no rinse) conditioners. I'm gonna look more into these options...otherwise, I think I may have to bite the bullet and co-wash midweek. Oy!
